Western Australia has too much electricity generated by solar energy! Government indicates that the rebate will be reduced or cancelled

Solar rebates in Western Australia could be dangerous. Because the state government is considering reducing or even abolishing the policy altogether.

Finance Director Ben Wyatt confirmed today that he is investigating the future of renewable energy buybacks. The plan is to pay families a rebate for surplus electricity.

At present, the remaining electricity used in homes can be repaid 7.1 cents per unit, but this could be further reduced.

"it's too cheap and it's generating so much energy now that these incentives may need change," Ben Wyatt said in an interview.

Instead, the state government is considering rebalancing solar power rebates.

"what can we do to ensure a better match between demand and the supply of renewable energy? This is a storage solution. "

About 250, 000 WA households already have solar panels, more than expected.

"We install about 140 megawatts of solar panels in Western Australia every year," sustainable development experts said.

"these solar panels generate about half as much electricity as a Collie power station."

Experts say rebates do need to be cut, but also pay attention to the timing of the cuts.
