Immigration is divided into two states. The first is called permanent resident, or PR, or green card. The second is naturalization.

Chinese citizens who have settled in foreign countries are generally called overseas Chinese who have obtained permanent residence rights and those who have naturalized are called overseas Chinese.

Application for naturalization consists of three steps: application, interview and naturalization ceremony, which usually take six months.

1, Application: the applicant can download the nationality application form online. After completing, send the application form together with the necessary information to the nationality office.

2, interview: applicants over the age of 16 must attend the interview. The idea of the interview is to confirm that you are aware of the rights and obligations of Australian citizens and to be able to use simple English (applicants over 50 do not need to comply with this article).

3, naturalization ceremony: after the interview is passed, usually receive a notice within two months, according to the specified time and place to participate in the Citizenship Certificate issuing ceremony. During the ceremony, the applicant will take an oath of naturalization and receive an Australian citizenship certificate.

After naturalization, you become an overseas Chinese.
