New states, Chiefs and Western Australia will double points during the New yea

New York, Capital Territory and Western Australia officially introduced a double-point system on Monday, according to News 9. Speeding, drivers using mobile phones and non-seat belts will be the focus of police attention, including motorcyclists without helmets.

Between December 21 and January 2, the state and capital territories introduced a double-point system, while Western Australia's double-point system was extended to January 6.

"if you have to drive during the Christmas holidays, I encourage you to drive in the best possible form," said (Melinda Pavey), the new state road director.

Police warned that they would appear on any road at any time. "this year is not about which road we are going to be on, but when we are going to be on that road," said assistant director Cobbly (Michael Corboy).

Christmas parties and social gatherings will increase in the coming weeks, with police urging people not to drink and drive. Last Christmas, police conducted seven hundred thousand one hundred and ninety nine random breathing tests, of which 1585 were charged with drunk driving.

Drivers should also note that starting in September, driving phones will be deducted by one extra point, which means 10 points will be deducted when caught using a mobile phone during the double points system.
