2016 is a good harvest year for liquor sales. Sales of wine giants Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) and Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) were up 19.1 percent and 15.7 percent respectively from the previous year.
Strong sales growth pushed the two companies into the top 10 Australian food and beverage companies in 2016, crowding out Nestl é and bread maker George Weston Foods.
The TWF, its brand, ranks ninth and CUB is the 10th. They share a 10-year ranking with Kirin Kirin, a Japanese wine maker with a beer brand, Hahn, Bog's and XXXX. Kirin ranked third, though its sales fell by 5.7% to 4.8 billion last year.
