International tourists spend less than 41.3 billion in Australia, the Chinese contribute 1 to 4

Chinese tourists are in Australia.


Last year, international tourists spent more than A $40 billion in Australia, while Chinese visitors accounted for 1/4 of the total, according to the Australian Association and the Australian newspaper.

In the year to December 2017, the number of overseas visitors to Australia reached 8.1 million and consumption in Australia hit a new high of A $41.3 billion, according to the latest (International Visitor Survey) data from the Federal government's International tourist Survey. The figures are up 6% from 2016, equivalent to an extra A $2.2 billion injected into the Australian economy.

Chinese visitors remain the largest group of international visitors to Australia, spending A $10.4 billion last year, accounting for 1/4 of total international spending in Australia, up 14 percent from 2016.

U. S. spending in Australia rose 3% to A $8.3 billion.

(Steve Ciobo), Federal Minister of Trade, Tourism and Investment, said: "this record growth is good for the country. The more visitors they visit, the more they spend, and the more beneficial they are to our economy and jobs.

"the number of overseas visitors to Australia and the amount of consumption reached an all-time high. China [tourists] still play a key role in the success of Australia's tourism industry. " With the support of the 2017 China-Australia Tourism year, we have seen strong performance over the past 12 months, underscoring the importance of sustained investment in the market and the development of this vital bilateral relationship, Mr. Chobo said.

Among the states and territories, international tourists grew 31% last year, the largest increase in Australia. Western Australia is the only state where consumption growth has not been recorded. In addition, growth in the capital territories was 23%, while Victoria grew 11%.

The state in which international tourists spent the most last year was New prefecture, with a whopping A $10.4 billion.
