Parents have to do their homework well when buying the necessities of their children's return to school.
According to Choice, a consumer group, families can reduce back-to-school spending by nearly 1/3 by buying wisely.
According to a price comparison report, the cost of classroom necessities is about 24 yuan, which could climb to more than 37 yuan depending on where parents choose to buy.
The consumer group found, Big W the cheapest option for parents to buy 15 of the same back-to-school necessities. These items include pencils, pens, exercise books and lunch boxes.
Although Big W's basket of goods became the most economic option for 24.82 yuan, the Officeworks and Kmart prices were only a little higher, at 25.44 yuan and 26.35 yuan, respectively.
Retail giant Target has the highest price, at 37.85 yuan.
Choice's executive editor, Rafferty (Margaret Rafferty), said that while parents may study large items such as school uniforms, shoes, peace boards, computers, small things like stationery are often overlooked.
"spending on the homecoming season may have real budgetary implications for parents, especially after Christmas," Laferty said.
"however, we have found that parents with good homework can cut costs by 1/3.
"given that at this time of the year, the financial situation of families is often very tight, these savings will soon accumulate a lot, especially for people with more than one child."
Spotswood's mother, Fiona (Fiona Lanzon) 's two children, who are about to attend grades 2 and 4 this year, said shopping during their return to school could take a lot of time.
Fiona said she ordered most of her children's classroom stationery through school.
