94% of Australians make this mistake when throwing rubbish! That's the right thing to do!

Trash, did you throw it right?

As an environmentally friendly country, Australia attaches great importance to garbage separation and recycling.

In addition, 96% of Australians also want to recycle waste.

However, the ideal is very plump, the reality is very ossified.

The latest survey found that many Australians don't really know what garbage can be recycled and what is not.

So when throwing garbage, often make some mistakes.

For example:

Ninety-four percent put non-recyclable waste in a recyclable bin, and 82 percent mistakenly believe that a triangular arrow sign on a plastic package means it can be recycled. Seventy-three percent of people don't flatten the egg when they throw it, 60 percent don't grab it as a golf ball when throwing foil. 58 percent don't clean up the rest of the food when they throw a pizza box. Nearly 50% mistakenly believe plastic cutlery can be recycled; 38% mistakenly think plastic straws can be recycled; Thirty-six percent mistakenly threw plastic bags and soft plastic (plastic bags for all kinds of food, etc.) into recyclable bins; 27 percent mistakenly put recyclables in a bag and then threw them away; One in four people thought that whatever it was, they could put it in a recyclable trash can, and then someone would sort it.

These are all the mistakes that Australians often make when throwing rubbish.

Another 45 percent said the signs and instructions were unclear, preventing them from recycling better.

So, what's the right thing to do?

The CEO Rebecca Gilling of Planet Ark indicates:

1, do not put recyclable garbage in a bag.

Because all recyclable items pass through a conveyor belt and then manually sorted.

If you put recyclable waste in a bag, the bag will be thrown away directly and there is no way to recycle the contents.

2, when throwing the bottle, be sure to pour the liquid into the bottle and screw the lid.

Otherwise, when it passes through the press, the liquid in it will flow out and damage the machine.

3, when throwing egg support, egg box, must press flat.

Otherwise, they will bounce off the conveyor belt and eventually enter the classification of plastics and aluminium products.

When throwing the pizza box, be sure to clean up the leftover food inside.

Otherwise the food residue can cause the box to become sticky, easy to block the recycling machine.

5, when throwing foil paper, be sure to put it into a ball.

Otherwise it will fall out of the gap in the recycling machine.

Don't throw clothes, diapers, plastic bags, vegetable bags into a recyclable trash can.

Otherwise, when recycling, they will jam the recycling machine, workers must climb the machine to clean up.

Since previous recycling labels were difficult to understand, Australia recently introduced a new, simpler recycling label.

The triangle's black solid arrow stands for "recyclable";

The triangle's black hollow arrow stands for "conditional recycling";

The trash can stands for "non-recyclable" and can be thrown into the non-recyclable trash can.

At present, more than 100 Australian companies have adopted this brand-new label.

In addition, after all, what can be recycled, which can not be recycled, small and micro also give you a detailed introduction (each council regulations may vary slightly).

1. The yellow can cover the trash can is used to collect recyclable waste.

Recyclable items include:

  • Various hard plastic bottles and containers
  • Glass bottles and cans (green, amber and colorless)
  • Aluminium, steel and aerosol tanks
  • Cardboard cartons for milk and juice
  • [化] aluminized paper
  • Metal pots, saucepans and cutlery
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Cardboard (unwaxed fruit and vegetable box)
  • Office paper and envelopes
  • [法] telephone directory

Items that cannot be put into a recyclable trash can include:

  • Green garbage
  • Household garbage
  • Food waste
  • Children's toys (please donate them to charity stores)
  • Ceramics, heat-resistant glass and other glassware
  • Disposable diape
  • clothing and other articles of daily use
  • Do not place anything in a plastic bag in a recyclable trash can.

2. The green lid's garbage can is used for recycling green waste.

Green waste includes:

  • branch
  • leaf
  • spray
  • Cut grass
  • Non-toxic weeds (soil removal)

Items that cannot be put in a green trash can include:

  • Green garbage in plastic bags
  • Wire, fabric, material, plastic or nylon tie
  • soil
  • Roots and stump
  • Recyclable material
  • domestic garbage

3. The red lid of the trash can is used to hold non-recyclable domestic waste.

4. Recycling of hard refuse

Melbourne's municipal councils provide hard waste recycling once a year, with some councils booking services and some annual fixed-day recycling.

Hard waste includes:

  • Old tools and lawn mowe
  • Refrigerator (remove door)
  • Timber not exceeding 1.5 m long (not exceeding 10 pieces)
  • Stoves, washing machines and other similar appliances
  • Ceramic and window glass (heavy packing required)
  • Mattresses and bedframes (1 per household)
  • electrical equipment [appliance]
  • Electronic garbage (TV sets, computers, etc.)
  • Old furniture

I hope we can do a good job of garbage classification, protect our living environment.
