They are lazy Australians who are reluctant to do such jobs: picking fruit, washing dishes or baking bread.

Even if they were given a sign of stop-go, they would find it too difficult to get a direct benefit.

Employers complain that Australian workers are reluctant to do these humble jobs, that many are "twilight", that they want to make more money faster and more, and that they are often reluctant to travel or move for a good job.

The problem was highlighted this month when a couple at a dairy farm in Kunzhou paid 50,000 yuan to provide free accommodation, but the locals were not interested. But they received a large number of applications from the Philippines, the Middle East and India.

Fruit and vegetable picking, meat processing (such as at slaughterhouses, etc.) are equally unpopular with Australian workers.

CEO Whiteside (James Whiteside), the Australian vegetable association, said producers were heavily dependent on imported workers as a source of labour, especially during the peak season.

"vegetable growers in Australia always give priority to local workers, but the reality is that there is a lot of demand in our industry for foreign workers, because local workers tend to be reluctant to work on vegetable farms or not for long," he said.

"these foreign workers work with local workers in fields and packaging sheds to ensure the delivery of agricultural products to consumers."

In addition to the primary industry, other industries heavily dependent on foreign workers include restaurants, cleaning and traffic control, and the hairdressing industry is constantly looking for the right staff to fill vacancies.

A bar operator who has worked in the catering industry for more than 20 years says that while he does not discriminate against Australian workers, hiring foreign workers makes his life easier.

"I like to hire foreigners who love their jobs," he said. "they are more reliable, they work longer, they are grateful for a good working environment, and they carry less luggage and have fewer problems."

Most of the bar's kitchen workers are foreigners, the operator said, adding that foreign workers usually fight alone or have few relatives here, and they are more focused on their jobs. Nothing can distract them. The more junior jobs, the fewer applications, even if applied for a short time.

None of his employees, foreign workers, hangovers or beach workers would call in sick.

"if they are Australian employees, they always make excuses. Foreign workers have a pleasant experience because they like their jobs, no matter how low they are. They like to live in Australia and work very hard. "

In a survey of the hardest-to-fill jobs in cafes and restaurants by the Hotel and Catering Industry Association, 40.4 percent of companies found it "very difficult" to recruit chefs, while 33.9 percent found it very difficult to hire managers of restaurants and cafes.

Sydney-based lead baker Roster (Andreas Rost) said he sent out a job advertisement last year, but none of the Australian job seekers applied and it was really hard to recruit employees.

For those who do not pursue passion, baking seems too difficult.

"for Australians, if he could find a more relaxed job, he would never ask for it," he said.

Even if Roster employs local workers, they won't be able to do it much longer, many of them six to nine months at best. Many job seekers don't like baking time because they usually start work at 1: 00 a. M.

Sandy (Sandy Chong), chief executive of the Australian Beauty Association, said locals were reluctant to do the work, but the current visa system made it impossible for them to recruit.

"all job-seeking beauty shops will find it almost impossible to find a qualified and competent employee," she said. "our job is not a shortage of skills.

Carlson (Peter Karlsson), the operator of traffic management firm Australian Retro, said five years ago that his company employs nearly 100 traffic controllers, 85 percent of whom are Irish women. They work reliably and are willing to work hard on Sundays.

Australian Prime Minister Tan Po announced last year that 457 visas would be cancelled in favour of a new temporary skills shortage visa.
