There's a dishwasher at home! It's best to buy a cleaner.

Nobody likes washing dishes, so we let the dishwasher do all the dirty work.

But there are dozens of detergents to choose from, and sometimes you think it's better to wash them by hand than by choosing them.

Choice, the Australian consumer watchdog group, has been tested for the best and worst-use products, so you don't have to worry about which products to buy.

From dishwashers to dishwashing powder to popular dishwashers, experts tested well-known brands to see how much they decontaminated egg yolks, red wine, coffee and grilled cheese.

They analyzed as many as 34 products.

The best overall performance was the Earth Choice All in One Dish Tablets, retail price of 16.20 yuan, the highest score of 81.

The dishwasher handles the dirtiest dishes, removing 80% egg yolk, 93% grilled cheese and 74% red wine. Miele Dishwasher Ultra Tabs Multi scored the second highest at 80, followed by Coles Ultra with Active Oxygen Tablets, with 76.

Fairy Platinum All in One Tablets also worked well, removing 88% of the yolk;, Finish Quantum Ultimate Powerball Tablets scored 93 points on removing grilled cheese.

The worst performing detergent was the Earthwise Dishwasher Tablets, retail price of 20 yuan, with a score of 40 points, compared with 41 for the Morning Fresh 2x Super Concentrate Powder.

"if the detergent you use doesn't work well, it doesn't work if you buy any good dishwasher," the report said.

"instead of upgrading expensive appliances, you will immediately notice a clean-up effect in exchange for a good-quality detergents."

The report tested popular supermarket brands, including Finish,Fairy,Earth Choice,Morning Fresh and Miele.

Not all 34 detergents are recommended, only 12 are approved, including Earth Choice,Miele,Ecostore,Coles Ultra,Fairy,Finish and Aldi's Logix.

The highest-scoring recommendations are almost always dishwashers, while the lowest-scoring products are mostly dishwashers.
