Google publishes employee report that female staff does not increase but decline

Google, a tech giant accused of sexism, filed its fifth annual employee diversification report on Thursday, showing fewer white workers and higher numbers of Asian workers. However, there has been little increase in the number of female employees, as well as underrepresented minorities (under-represented minorities),).

Google, headquartered in (Mountain View), Calif., employs about 85000 people. The group's female workforce stood at 30.9 percent last year, up 0.1 percent from last year. Whites accounted for 53.1 percent of the workforce, down more than 2 percent from last year, Asian workers accounted for 36.3 percent, and African and Latin Americans accounted for just 2.5 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively.

The report's new data show that African-American workers are far more likely to leave their jobs than other ethnic groups. Google says it will continue to diversify its workforce and create a culture of integration, rather than just hiring people of different races.

Google raised the question of whether to link management pay to the goal of increasing employee diversity, but was vetoed by shareholders last week.
