A Melbourne man bought a property by auction that contained illegal building elements, and the local council ordered him to demolish parts of the illegal building or spend nearly A $10,000 to obtain a development permit.

Melbourne man Hao Dong (Hao Dong, spent A $ five hundred and fifty seven thousand nine hundred and ninety nine in March 2016 on a property in (Mill Park), Mir Park, with plans to let his parents move in, according to the Daily Mail. More than two years later, Haodong received a notification from the local Whitsey Council (Whittlesea Council) in August. Notice that someone reported the property suspected of illegal construction, hope Haodong take immediate measures.

The property was reported to have been used as an "unregistered rental house" and there were illegal buildings.

Haodong then learned that the former owner had built a bungalow, two shacks and a garage without permission or approval, and that the violations occurred about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, as the current owner of the property, Haodong is now responsible for demolishing illegal building parts or obtaining permission.

Haodong said he was shocked because real estate agents did not mention any illegal buildings at the time of the purchase, and he thought everything was "fair and square."

Edward (Julian Edwards), acting head of planning for the Whitsey Parliament, said the house was most concerned about household safety and housing compliance with building codes. Parliament has given Haodong two options, not to impose fines or take legal action, which will only be used as a last resort. However, the parliament believes that Haodong will co-operate to resolve the problem.

If Haodong chooses to apply for a development license, the application fee is expected to reach A $8500. In addition, he also needs to hire construction workers to survey. If you choose to demolish the illegal part of the building, the estimated cost is about A $7800.

Haodong did not hire a building inspector before the real estate transaction. If problems were found at that time, the seller would be responsible.

Edward said that while regretting what happened to Haodong, it also reminded other property buyers to do their due diligence on. (Hannah) before buying a house.
