69 yuan is gone! the oBike deposit may not be refundable

Depressed oBike consumers worry that they may never get a 70-yuan deposit again, as the bike-sharing company appears to have converted the deposit into a service charge, the Times reported.

The Singapore bike-sharing company withdrew from the Melbourne market a few weeks ago after the state EPA imposed stricter bike management requirements.

On Monday, oBike said in a statement that it would stop operations in Singapore after Singapore's Land Transport Bureau imposed new stringent requirements on them.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the company wrote: ""We were very sorry to have to withdraw from the Singapore market."

A few weeks ago, oBike made a similar statement in response to the Melbourne market. A few months ago, Adelaide City also demanded the withdrawal of the oBike.

Since oBike announced that leave will be held in Melbourne, consumers have flooded into social media to complain and ask questions about a 69-yuan deposit.

Some consumers told the Times that they had applied for a refund, but found that the deposit had been converted into a long-term service charge without their knowledge.

Melbourne-based IT consultant William Wen said he had boarded oBike to apply for a refund and found that his deposit had "disappeared".

"I logged on to the software, and I was useless for a long time and found that one of the accounts had been automatically converted into a two-year service charge without my permission. And the deposit in my partner's account is gone. "

Wen's accounts show that his annual service fee was paid from April 8, which means that oBike's conversion fee was at that time.

He thought that he could not get his money back. "I think the money has just been lost."

Wen tried to get in touch with oBike but did not receive a reply. O Bike's lease agreement included a provision that those who agreed to the agreement would agree to convert the deposit into an annual membership subscription fee.

"if you do not agree, users will not be able to use the oBike service, and the above terms will take effect from March 12, 2018," the clause reads.

The agreement said deposits could be refundable but would take 1 to 30 days to return to the account.

Speaker, the Victorian consumer affairs agency, suggests that consumers can first reach out to businesses and find solutions that they can contact banks or issuers if the business does not solve the problem and users pay with credit cards. Demanded that the money be returned.

Melbourne City has collected 76 oBike.oBike vehicles in the city area since June 13, the spokesman said. Six of them have been claimed by the company.

According to the local city of Sydney, oBike is still operating in Sydney.

OBike did not respond to the incident.
