Two major supermarkets in Australia have come up with new tricks, and their own shopping bags can get points.

Two of Australia's biggest supermarket chains, Woolworths and Coles, are offering new incentives to encourage customers to bring their own shopping bags after much controversy over the ban on one-off plastic bags.

Australia's Woolworths supermarket chain and Coles supermarket chain will receive extra points for reusable shopping bags they bring when they shop, according to Channel 7.

Starting tomorrow, Woolworths supermarket chains will receive two points for each shopping bag they own. The award scheme will continue to be effective for the course of the year.

"We thank customers for making changes to develop new habits," said (Brad Banducci) (Brad Banducci), chief executive of Woolworths Group. "Woolworths' recent policy of offering free alternative shopping bags is aimed at providing some additional help during the transition."

Coles supermarket chain shopping bag points reward policy from today, each shopping brush FlyBuys membership card reward 30 points. Notably, the points award program ends on Tuesday, July 17.
