Australia's safest & happiest place, guess what?

Sydney Kulingei was named the safest & happiest place in Australia (Daily Telegraph)

Money doesn't buy happiness, but you have to have money to buy a house in Ku-ring-gai, Sydney.

According to a landmark study by Bond University of Queensland (Bond University) Sydney is officially the safest and happiest place in Australia according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Happiness Plan (Happiness Project) analyzes Australian censuses and other public data and assesses 540 municipal areas in Australia through nine key areas that affect quality of life.

Areas of assessment include: housing affordability, education, community, work, wealth, transportation, work-life balance, health and safety, with a full score of 10 per item.

In the area of work-life balance, considerations include working hours and free housework hours such as cleaning the house. Sydney (Burwood), Cumberland (Cumberland), Feifei (Fairfield), (Rockdale) and Stephen (Strathfield) ranked top in Australia. (Weddin Shire), 390km west of Sydney, ranks at the bottom of the new state in the area of work-life balance.

Salter (Bernard Salt), a demographer, said it was not surprising that shady or coastal areas within commuting distance from the capital were among the best in terms of quality of life.

Quality of life is closely related to full employment, rich incomes, affordable housing and other environmental and style factors. Environmental and lifestyle factors include community safety, friendliness, greenfield or beach, fresh air and a variety of leisure options. These goals are usually achievable, as long as they live next to the major cities, not in the CBD area.

In general, major cities with a higher proportion of younger, unmarried residents perform better in the area of work-life balance, said Graham (Caroline Graham), lead researcher at the Happiness Plan.

In the area of security, Sydney-based Curingei and the (Woollahra) district of Warrara both scored a full mark. Security considerations relate to murder and violent crime rates, as well as residents' self-reported levels of safety.

At the same time, Curingei in the overall quality of life and the level of education and other areas have achieved high scores.
