[coffee carcinogenesis] there are millions of profits hidden behind it! The behind-the-scenes hand surfaced

Chinese and foreign media, both large and small, reported last week news about the cancer of Starbucks coffee, but most people, including those media, may not know that this doubt is not based on scientific evidence. It comes from political and legal manipulation.

Many times, no amount of scientific evidence can match the manipulation of the law.

Earlier, an NGO, the toxicant Education and Research Council, raised a warning in 2010 that the California government would force coffee beverage shops to mark "coffee may cause cancer."

The English name of this so-called civil society organization is Council for Education and Research on Toxics (CERT). However, it does not really exist in the "folk", but only in the documents of judicial proceedings.

The contact address for CERT is 401e Ocean Blvd., Ste. 800, Long Beach, California 90802 / 4967, 1 / 877 tox / TORT.

This address and phone number actually belong to a law group called Metzger Law Group (owned by Raphael Metzger).

The firm's expertise is to go to California courts to sue businesses, particularly in the food industry, and CERT seems to be the legal person it created for such lawsuits.

California voted in 1986 to adopt proposal No. 65, which states (1) that the State of California must maintain and update the list of chemicals known to have carcinogenic or reproductive toxicity (i.e., the list of poisons). (2) any product of an enterprise that contains a chemical on any of its toxic lists must be marked to this effect on its product (for example, "may cause cancer").

The list now lists nearly 1000 chemicals, which, of course, give Metzger Law Group unlimited opportunities.

As soon as an enterprise is informed by it, it must prove that its products do not contain a chemical on the list (or that the chemical is not toxic or carcinogenic). Coffee makers, for example, must demonstrate that trace amounts of Acrylamide (acrylamide) in coffee do not cause cancer.

Companies will have to do clinical trials if they want to do so, which will not only cost tens of millions, or even hundreds of millions of dollars, but there is no guarantee that there will be undisputed evidence. (air can also cause cancer, you have heard of it, but there is no industry selling air.)

Therefore, defendant enterprises are forced to settle out of court and agree to do toxic or carcinogenic markings on the product.

So what did, Metzger Law Group get? According to the Bloomberg,65 lawsuit, there were 760 out-of-court settlements last year alone, while defendant paid a total of $30 million in settlement fees, of which 72 percent were paid to lawyers.

Bloomberg,Metzger Law Group will receive millions of dollars from the coffee case.
