Although the number of apprentices and interns in Australia is on the rise, there are many who give up halfway, according to the Australian News Network.

More and more Australians understand the value of apprentices and interns, but they may not always be able to complete their training.

In the last quarter of 2017, the number of people who started training rose 7.6 percent year-on-year, according to (National Centre for Vocational Education Research), Australia's national vocational education research center. Compared with the same period in 2016, the number of people who began apprenticeship increased by about 9.3 percent and the number of interns by 6.3 percent.

The biggest increases were in automation and engineering (up 20.9 percent), general clerks (up 25.2 percent) and construction (12.3 percent).

Despite growing enthusiasm for training, only 25105 apprentices and interns completed their training in the last quarter of 2017, down 8.4 percent from a year earlier.

Decker (Chloe Dyker), 21, from Adelaide, is a bakery apprentice in her final year of training.

Mr Decker says training is not that difficult, especially in areas he likes. "you have to find something you like to hold on to four years of training, but it's worth it," she said. "after four years of training, you'll be qualified to secure a job when you're older."
