On Monday, eBay, an online shopping site, announced a partnership with Flybuys, a popular point scheme owned by Coles, according to the Daily Mail. Consumers who shop on eBay will be able to earn or exchange Flybuys points.

Starting today, consumers only need to associate ebay's account with Flybuys to earn points when shopping on eBay. One credit per A $2 consumption, and A $10 for every 1000 points. In addition, to celebrate eBay's partnership with Flybuys, consumers will be able to earn 10 times Flybuys points by May 13 when they shop on the site.

Nestor (Julie Nestor), eBay's chief marketing officer, said it was exciting news for consumers, who can earn points when they shop at home, from children's diapers to bicycles or iPhone phones.

It is reported that Flybuys currently has more than 20 partners, 8.2 million active members.

However, Flybuys offers no advantage over loyalty incentive schemes offered by other companies, such as cinemas and pharmacies.

Finder, a financial comparison website, found that under the loyalty incentive scheme of Priceline Pharmacy, the Australian drugstore chain, customers receive A $3 for every A $100 they consume. The most attractive loyalty award is for senior members of Hoyts Cinema, who receive A $10 for every A $100 purchase of a movie ticket, but an annual membership fee of A $13. In addition, customers in the department store David Jones receive a rebate of 75 cents for every A $100 they consume, while customers at Myer receive A $2.
