There are 30 things in life that are not worth doing

1. Stop spending time with the wrong people.

Don't spend time with the wrong people.

Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.  If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you.  You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot.  Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.  And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends.

Life is short and there is no need to bother with those who make you unhappy. If that person needs you and you don't need to do anything, he or she will naturally leave your place. Never be with someone who undervalues you. Remember, it's not precious to stay by your side when you're in trouble, and it's true friends who are still with you when you're in trouble.

2. Stop running from your problems.

Don't run away from the problem.

Face them head on.  No, it won’t be easy.  There is no person in the world capable of flawlessly handling every punch thrown at them.  We aren’t supposed to be able to instantly solve problems.  That’s not how we’re made.  In fact, we’re made to get upset, sad, hurt, stumble and fall.  Because that’s the whole purpose of living – to face problems, learn, adapt, and solve them over the course of time.  This is what ultimately molds us into the person we become.

Face up and solve the problem. That's right, it's not easy. No one in the world can easily get through every difficulty. There is no one who can overcome difficulties with great ease and ceaselessly. In fact, we should be confused, sad, wrong, because that is the meaning of life-to face problems, to learn to adapt, over time to learn to solve problems, shape what we become.

3. Stop lying to yourself.

Don't deceive yourself.

You can lie to anyone else in the world, but you can’t lie to yourself.  Our lives improve only when we take chances, and the first and most difficult chance we can take is to be honest with ourselves.

You can lie to anyone in the world, but you can't lie to yourself. Life can move forward only if we continue to accept challenges, but the first and most difficult challenge is to be honest with ourselves.

4. Stop putting your own needs on the back burner.

Don't put your needs last.

The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too.  Yes, help others; but help yourself too.  If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now.

The most tragic thing in the world is that it is different to love someone and lose yourself and forget about yourself. Yes, help others, but love yourself more. If you never follow your heart, you never do something important for yourself, start now.

5. Stop trying to be someone you’re not.

Don't force yourself to be the ideal person.

One of the greatest challenges in life is being yourself in a world that’s trying to make you like everyone else.  Someone will always be prettier, someone will always be smarter, someone will always be younger, but they will never be you.  Don’t change so people will like you.  Be yourself and the right people will love the real you.

The biggest challenge in the world is to change yourself into another person. There are always more beautiful, always smarter, always younger, but they are not you. Don't force yourself to change in order to make others like yourself more. Be yourself, the right person will love the real you.

6. Stop trying to hold onto the past.

Don't always cling to the past.

You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.

If you've been rereading yesterday, it's hard to open a new chapter in life.

7. Stop being scared to make a mistake.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes.

Doing something and getting it wrong is at least ten times more productive than doing nothing.  Every success has a trail of failures behind it, and every failure is leading towards success.  You end up regretting the things you did NOT do far more than the things you did.

Keep trying, even if it's wrong, it's more than a dozen times better than doing nothing. There are countless failures behind every success, and every failure is an attempt to succeed. You'll regret what you haven't done, not try.

8. Stop berating yourself for old mistakes.

Don't torture yourself for past mistakes.

We may love the wrong person and cry about the wrong things, but no matter how things go wrong, one thing is for sure, mistakes help us find the person and things that are right for us.  We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past.  But you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles, and you are here NOW with the power to shape your day and your future.  Every single thing that has ever happened in your life is preparing you for a moment that is yet to come.

We may love someone wrongly and cry for something wrong, but no matter how big a mistake, it is certain that the wrong person or thing will help us find the right person or thing for us. We all make mistakes, struggle, and even regret what we did in the past. But now, you are not you who has made mistakes, you have never been struggling with you, you are a new self, that has the ability to shape the new present and the future of you. Everything that ever happens is in preparation for the moment to come.

9. Stop trying to buy happiness.

Don't try to buy happiness.

Many of the things we desire are expensive.  But the truth is, the things that really satisfy us are totally free – love, laughter and working on our passions.

A lot of things we want are very expensive. But the truth is that things that really fit for us are often free--love, smile, and passion.

10. Stop exclusively looking to others for happiness.

Don't fantasize about happiness through others.

If you’re not happy with who you are on the inside, you won’t be happy in a long-term relationship with anyone else either.  You have to create stability in your own life first before you can share it with someone else.

If you are not satisfied with your inner self, it is difficult to be happy in a long-term relationship with others. You have to build your own happiness before you can share it with others.

11. Stop being idle.

Don't be idle.

Don't think too much or you’ll create a problem that wasn't even there in the first place. Evaluate situations and take decisive action.  You cannot change what you refuse to confront. Making progress involves risk. Period! You can't make it to second base with your foot on first.

Don't think too much, or you'll make a lot of unnecessary trouble. Assess the situation and then make a decision. You can't change what you can't face. Moving forward always means taking risks. If you don't take the first step, you can't take the second step. That's what life is like.

12. Stop thinking you're not ready.

Don't always think you're not ready.

Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises.  Because most great opportunities in life force us to grow beyond our comfort zones, which means we won’t feel totally comfortable at first.

When the opportunity comes, no one will feel that they are 100% ready. Because great opportunities in life always force us out of our comfort zone, it means we will definitely feel uncomfortable at the beginning.

13. Stop getting involved in relationships for the wrong reasons.

Don't start a relationship for some wrong reason.

Relationships must be chosen wisely.  It's better to be alone than to be in bad company.  There's no need to rush.  If something is meant to be, it will happen – in the right time, with the right person, and for the best reason. Fall in love when you’re ready, not when you're lonely.

You must choose your feelings wisely. It is better to have a wrong partner than to be single. There is no need to hurry. If fate comes, everything will come-with the right person at the right time. To fall in love is because the time has come, not to feel lonely.

14. Stop rejecting new relationships just because old ones didn’t work.

Don't refuse new feelings because of the failure of a previous relationship.

In life you'll realize that there is a purpose for everyone you meet. Some will test you, some will use you and some will teach you.  But most importantly, some will bring out the best in you.

In the long river of life, you will gradually realize that meeting everyone is destined. Someone will test you, someone will use you, someone will guide you. But above all, these will lead you to true love.

15. Stop trying to compete against everyone else.

Don't always compete with others.

Don't worry about what others are doing better than you. Concentrate on beating your own records every day. Success is a battle between You and Yourself only.

Don't worry that others do better than you. Every day, focus on transcending yourself. Success is just a battle between yourself and yourself.

16. Stop being jealous of others.

Don't be jealous of others.

Jealousy is the art of counting someone else’s blessings instead of your own.  Ask yourself this:  “What's something I have that everyone wants?”

Jealousy is in fact a careful account of other people's happiness but ignored their own happiness. Always ask yourself, "what do I have that other people envy?"

17. Stop complaining and feeling sorry for yourself.

Stop complaining and feeling guilty.

Life's curveballs are thrown for a reason – to shift your path in a direction that is meant for you. You may not see or understand everything the moment it happens, and it may be tough.  But reflect back on those negative curveballs thrown at you in the past.  You’ll often see that eventually they led you to a better place, person, state of mind, or situation.  So smile!  Let everyone know that today you are a lot stronger than you were yesterday, and you will be.

The frustration in life has its meaning, it puts you back on the right track of life. Maybe you can't understand why these things happen, or they're painful for you. But when you look back at these setbacks, you will find that they will eventually make you better. So, you have to smile at the plight of your life. You have to show everyone who you are today is stronger than you were yesterday, and tomorrow you will be stronger.

18.Stop holding grudges.

Let go of the hate in your heart.

Don't live your life with hate in your heart.  You will end up hurting yourself more than the people you hate.  Forgiveness is not saying, “What you did to me is okay.”  It is saying, “I’m not going to let what you did to me ruin my happiness forever.”  Forgiveness is the answer… let go, find peace, liberate yourself!  And remember, forgiveness is not just for other people, it’s for you too.  If you must, forgive yourself, move on and try to do better next time.

If there is hate in your heart, you will end up hurting yourself far more than others do. Forgive me not by saying, "I don't mind if you hurt me," but by saying, "I won't let what you do ruin my happy future." Forgiveness is the answer to the question-let go of the past, find inner peace, and finally liberate yourself! Also, remember that forgiveness is not only for others, but also for yourself. If necessary, forgive yourself, then continue your steps and do better next time.

19. Stop letting others bring you down to their level.

Don't let others lower your standards.

Refuse to lower your standards to accommodate those who refuse to raise theirs.

Don't lower your expectations for goals in order to cater to those who don't want to inspire others.

20. Stop wasting time explaining yourself to others.

Don't waste time explaining yourself to others over and over again.

Your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe it anyway.  Just do what you know in your heart is right.

Your friends don't need any explanation to understand you, and your enemies will never believe what you say. So, your heart tells you what's right, do it.

21. Stop doing the same things over and over without taking a break.

Don't do the same thing all the time, and forget to stop and think about it.

The time to take a deep breath is when you don’t have time for it.  If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting. Sometimes you need to distance yourself to see things clearly.

When you don't think you're busy, stop and take a deep breath. If you continue to do what you have been doing, you will only keep getting what you already have. Sometimes you have to stop so you can see better.

22. Stop overlooking the beauty of small moments.

Don't underestimate the beauty of the fine moments.

Enjoy the little things, because one day you may look back and discover they were the big things. The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.

Appreciate the trivial things, because maybe one day when you look back on your life, you will find them to be of great importance. The most beautiful part of your life is made up of bits and pieces, like a smile you throw at someone.

23. Stop trying to make things perfect.

Don't be perfect for everything.

The real world doesn't reward perfectionists, it rewards people who get things done.

The real world does not favour perfectionists, it rewards only those who can finally accomplish their tasks.

24. Stop following the path of least resistance.

Do not always follow the least resistance to the path of life.

Life is not easy, especially when you plan on achieving something worthwhile.  Don’t take the easy way out.  Do something extraordinary.

Life is not easy, especially when you have a great dream, you will encounter more difficulties in the future. Instead of doing something that is not challenging, do something amazing.

25. Stop acting like everything is fine if it isn't.

Don't pretend that everything is going well.

It's okay to fall apart for a little while.  You don’t always have to pretend to be strong, and there is no need to constantly prove that everything is going well.  You shouldn’t be concerned with what other people are thinking either – cry if you need to – it’s healthy to shed your tears.  The sooner you do, the sooner you will be able to smile again.

Frustration or frustration is a normal thing. You don't have to pretend you're strong, and you don't have to prove to others that everything is what I want. You don't have to worry too much about what other people think of you. Cry if you want, and shed tears is good for your health. The sooner you release repressed emotions, the faster happiness will come.

26. Stop blaming others for your troubles.

Don't blame others for your troubles.

The extent to which you can achieve your dreams depends on the extent to which you take responsibility for your life.  When you blame others for what you’re going through, you deny responsibility – you give others power over that part of your life.

Whether you can fulfill your dreams depends to a large extent on whether you are accountable to yourself. When you blame others for all the difficulties you face, you're evading responsibility-not others, but your own ability to change your life.

27. Stop trying to be everything to everyone.

Don't try to be all a man.

Doing so is impossible, and trying will only burn you out. But making one person smile CAN change the world. Maybe not the whole world, but their world.  So narrow your focus.

The idea will only make you more exhausted. But bringing a little joy to the people around you can really change the world, even if you can't make the whole world a better place, but you do make that person's world a better place. So focus your attention on where you can.

28. Stop worrying so much.

Don't worry about it.

Worry will not strip tomorrow of its burdens, it will strip today of its joy.  One way to check if something is worth mulling over is to ask yourself this question: “Will this matter in one year’s time?  Three years?  Five years?”  If not, then it’s not worth worrying about.

Worry will not take the burden of tomorrow, but it can take away today's happiness. But some things are worth you to ponder, the method of judgment is to ask yourself: "after one year, three years later, five years later, is this matter of significance?" If not, you have nothing to worry about.

29.Stop focusing on what you don’t want to happen.

Don't focus on what you don't want to happen.

Focus on what you do want to happen.  Positive thinking is at the forefront of every great success story.  If you awake every morning with the thought that something wonderful will happen in your life today, and you pay close attention, you’ll often find that you’re right.

You should focus on what you want to happen. Positive thinking always appears in the prelude to every success story. If you wake up every day thinking good things will happen today, you will find that this is the truth.

30. Stop being ungrateful.

Don't forget to thank you for everything you have.

No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life.  Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs.  Instead of thinking about what you’re missing, try thinking about what you have that everyone else is missing.

No matter what your fate is, wake up with gratitude every day. Somewhere in the world some people are still hopelessly fighting for their own destiny. So don't think about what you've missed. Think of what other people don't have.
