Citigroup (Citigroup), an investment bank, warns that 20000 technology and operating jobs will disappear over the next five years as machines replace humans.
Citi President and Banking Institutional customer Group CEO Jamie. Forrest (Jamie Forese) spoke to the Financial Times on the tenth anniversary of the global financial crisis, along with other investment banking executives.
Forrest disappeared, and these jobs-nearly 2/5 of Citigroup's total workforce-were "the best jobs to use machines to handle."
"We have 20000 operating positions. In the next five years, this is likely to be reduced to 10000? " He said。
Tim, the boss of (Barclays), Barclays Investment Bank. Sotheby (Tim Throsby) also supports this view.
In the future, he said, there will be fewer employees, but the rest will make more money and machines will take over "low-value jobs."
"if your job is primarily keystroke, you're unlikely to have a bright future." He said。
HSBC (HSBC), however, said it had almost completed the process of replacing people with technology.
"from the risk management point of view, we have reached the point where there is no way to cut more staff. But I think maybe another 5% to 10% could be cut in the next five years from now. " He said。
