Fishing is very popular in the Australian Chinese community, but you don't know how many Chinese have died as a result!

Melbourne is not only beautiful natural scenery, natural resources are also very rich, especially in the seaside city, the magnificent sea scenery attracted countless visitors. So the mountain, the water, the boring Melbourne, by many fishing enthusiasts to discover a lot of the best place to fish.

Kevin loved fishing when he was a kid and got a license to fish when he came to Australia. A fishing license can be bought as long as it costs money. Generally divided into a few days, a few months, a year, three years of several types. Fishing licenses are not common in every province, so be careful before you buy them. These are, of course, restricted to enthusiasts, who live in Melbourne, Sydney, and enjoy fishing in Queensland, so they have to have a Queensland license.

For amateurs like me, just get a local license. Fishing license in Victoria province costs more than 20 Australian dollars a year, feeling like close to the people. If you have time to go fishing once, you can have a meal with yourself.

Before fishing in Australia, you need to know what kind of fish is at what length before you can take it away. You can buy a fish ruler, each time catch a fish after a measure, less than the size of the back, or will be fined. Although I have not met, but listen to the old angler said, the person in charge of supervision will hold binoculars. Discovery of suspicious behavior will come to check, confirm non-compliance on the fine.

Also more and more popular in the Chinese community is a fishing method-rock fishing. Rock fishing, also known as sandfishing, is a method of fishing in the sea. Take a look at the photos shown by the netizens, and you can feel the joy of the big fish taking the bait across the screen.

Fishing is a leisure sport, but rock fishing is a very dangerous activity. But the more dangerous it is, the more exciting it is, attracting a lot of people to try. As a result of the unfavourable measures of protection, tragedy is caused every year. If you look at this uncle below, he is an amateur at first sight. Without any protective measures, it's like fishing with life.

The uncle was only inadvertently in the water, and his life was not in danger. But many people are not as lucky as he is. There was a tragedy in Xinzhou where the couple and a friend were fishing in the Marmory state reserve in Xinzhou. Suddenly her wife was drawn into the sea by a big wave. The husband jumped into the sea from a rock platform to save his wife, and a 20-year-old friend jumped down to help. But the end result is very unfortunate, although the wife survived, but the husband and friends were killed.

Tragedies like this happen more than once, and statistics show that such accidents are repeated almost every year. Here are the statistics.

January 19, 2016: two Chinese men, 38 years old and 65 years old, went missing while fishing and shrimp fishing in The Entrance rock off the central coast of Xinzhou. It is reported that the two are son-in-law and father-in-law relationship.

September 18, 2011: Chinese construction worker Kobayashi and friends go to Little Bay Rock fishing on Sydney's east shore when they are attacked by a legendary "crazy dog wave". A week later, Kobayashi's body was found in the waters of Royal National Park southeast of Sydney.

August 2, 2011: a Chinese named Tiger in Melbourne went to rock fishing alone and did not return home that night. It is speculated that the sea could be drawn into the sea by unpredictable waves, sometimes as high as a dozen metres.

May 1, 2011: two men drowning in rock fishing in the Mosman area of Sydney. One man was caught in the sea, another jumped into the water and tried to rescue them, killing two.

May 18, 2010: a 29-year-old man surnamed Wang, fishing in North Bondi Rock, Sydney, is swept away by a huge wave. The week before the tragedy, his first rock fishing went well, but the second was an accident.

May 12, 2010: two families emigrated from Hong Kong to Australia for rock fishing near Catherine Hill Bay, north of Sydney. One person was swept away by a huge wave, others jumped into the sea to rescue, swallowed up by the waves, and eventually three men and two women drowned. This is Australia's most tragic drowning in nearly 20 years.

China's embassy in Australia warns of the dangers of rock fishing in the summer every year in a row. Caution is reminded to engage in rock fishing activities. The embassy read as follows:

Rock fishing (ROCK FISHING) is a high-risk outdoor activity. The fisherman may slip into the sea or be caught in a big wave and drown. China's citizen drowned almost every year in Australia because of carelessly fishing. In April 2015, a Chinese citizen and a friend were accidentally swept away by waves while fishing in the ALBANY region of Western Australia. In August 2015, two people drowned. Another Chinese citizen was caught drowning in the sea by waves while fishing in the new state of BATEMANS BAY. The Australian Embassy reminds citizen in Australia that it is best not to take part in rock fishing activities. If you really want to participate, you should also pay attention to the following:

First, walk together to inform your relatives and friends

(1) at least three or more people go with each other and pay attention to each other. If someone is unfortunately drawn into the sea by the waves, one person can be rescued on the spot and the other can call the police for help.

(2) inform relatives and friends of plans for fishing out of rock (including fishing location and return time, etc.).

Second, pre-prepare, self-protection

(1) wearing light clothes. Light clothing, such as shorts or waterproof coats, is easier to swim in distress.

(2) wearing a lifejacket. Wear a lifejacket or buoyancy vest.

(3) wear anti-skid shoes. Wear suitable anti-skid boots according to rock conditions.

(4) wearing a protective cap. Protect the head. Many of the rock fishing victims drowned because they were hit by rocks and lost their ability to save themselves.

(v) carry lifebuoys, lifelines and flashlights for use.

Third, pay attention to observation and remain vigilant

(1) study the local weather and tidal waves in advance.

(2) at least 30 minutes before fishing, it takes at least 30 minutes to understand the on-site environment, especially the tide rise and fall.

(3) learn from the local people about the sea areas and coastal conditions, and avoid rock fishing at dangerous times and places.

(4) observe the terrain and plan the escape route.

(5) remember not to turn your back to the sea.

4. Help in a reasonable way and ask for help in a timely manne

(1) when it is found that the rising sea level may endanger safety, it shall be evacuated in a timely manner. Beware of sudden mutations that can occur instantly.

(2) in the event of large waves, keep calm, dissociate the rock area, and find possible safe places to wait for rescue.

(3) A rope or lifebuoy shall be used to rescue a partner involved in the sea, rather than jumping directly into the sea.

(4) call for help to the police: 000, mobile phone users can also dial: 112.

For the above tips, Kevin would like to remind everyone, for someone after a rescue, one person to call the police. There is also a careful assessment of the situation at that time. According to the above statistics, none of the rescuers at sea survived, so this aspect needs to be handled with caution.

Fishing is only a part of life, and a small part of leisure activities. Therefore, there is no need to "use life to fish in the rock." In fact, many bay calm, small fishing half-day can also have a good harvest. A lot of things are to be happy and relaxed, safety is always the first. Your family is watching you go fishing happily with the guy and, of course, want to see you go home safely. After all, whether there is fish is not important, people can come back.
