On Aug. 3, 9NEWS reported that the booming Victorian city of Gillang (Geelong) will build a new large hotel, the largest in nearly 20 years.
The project, which is expected to cost A $150 million, is expected to open in 2020 and has been approved by the Ministry of Environment and Planning.
Located at 44 Ryrie Street, just minutes' drive from the front beach of Jilang, the hotel has 1800 beds, 10 floors for office use, 24 apartments and a department store center.

Paul Franz é, founder and president of Franz é Developments, the project's head, said it was that "the construction of the hotel will make a significant difference to the city of Gilang."
"the hotel is located on Ryriet Street because we want to build a functional multi-function hotel in response to the Gillang Center Action Plan, (Central Geelong Action Plan)," he said. The plan aims to transform Gilang from manufacturing to culture and innovation-oriented cities. "
"Gillang, one of Australia's fastest-growing cities, expects population growth to exceed one hundred and fifty thousand over the next 20 years, and urban environment and related facilities need to be changed accordingly."
Inspired by the design of Gillang's old wool store, the hotel was identified opposite the renovated A $38 million Gilang Art Centre.
"the project is well integrated into the local culture and is costly and will be a gateway to the city center of Gilang," said hotel designer Matthew Smith.
This four-star hotel will be used as Holiday Inn and Suites and will be operated by Continental Hotel (InterContinental Hotels).

Local travel agencies believe the hotel will attract many visitors to stay overnight.
Gillang Travel's Roger Grant said the hotel's 1800 beds would be properly accommodated to meet guests' needs.
Construction is expected to start at the end of this year and 24 apartments will be available for sale in October.
