Australian carnivorous bacteria are horrible! Because of the move, one hand is gone!

If you had a minor wound on your body, what would you normally do with it? Flush out of the water? Some medicine? A band aid? And forget about it?

Tell everyone today, some small wounds can really be treated as above, but some wounds, must not be careless!

A 37-year-old mother from Brisbane, Clare Scott, had her right arm and right hand infected with carnivorous bacteria, like a shark attack. After nine surgeries, she finally saved her life, but her right hand was disabled and could never recover!

But she said: "I really feel lucky, at least for now I'm still alive."

Here's the story:

On May 20, Ms. Scott recalled, she and her husband, Alister, who accidentally hurt her right ring finger while cleaning up her new home, were so busy moving to their new home. At that time, I only felt a little pain, but because I was very busy and didn't care too much, I flushed it with water at will; but on that night, her fingers swollen up and began to vomit, and my husband called the doctor quickly; When the doctor arrived, she found her hand had been seriously infected!

Then she took antibiotics in Greenslopes Private, but her hands grew bigger and bigger, and the pain spread to the whole arm! After a night's sleep in the hospital, Ms. Scott woke up in pain early in the morning.

"my hands and arms are swollen like balloons, as if they would explode at any moment."

The doctors hurriedly operated on Ms. Scott. Hope to reduce swelling and find out the cause of infection. But after the operation, Ms. Scott's arm was swollen and pain intensified, and she was transferred to intensive care.

On May 26th, she underwent a third operation and doctors diagnosed her with necrotizing fasciitis, a rare but severe bacterial infection, also known as "carnivorous bacteria."

The next day, she was on the table again, and this time she was told there was only a 50% chance of survival. And even if you survive, you may lose your fingers or your whole arm.

Fortunately, after N surgeries and the efforts of doctors, Ms. Scott survived, and though her right hand was disabled and could never be recovered, at least her arm was saved.

A small wound, no one expected to develop into such a serious consequence.

Experts recommend that:

1. Properly handle wounds:

The best way to prevent the infection of carnivorous bacteria is to protect the integrity of the skin. But in fact, this is difficult to do, so when the skin is damaged, be sure to clean the wound, apply iodophor to disinfect the wound, keep the wound dry, and avoid contaminating the wound.

2. When swimming, avoid damaging your skin:

In the event of skin damage, stop contact with water and treat the wound.

3. For larger wounds:

Should go to the hospital in time for treatment, according to the doctor's recommendation to use antibiotics to prevent infection.

4. Use Band Aid with caution:

Band aid is only suitable for small cut wounds, and should be cleaned and sterilized before use to keep dry. In other cases, the use of band-aid may be harmful to the wound, one is that the wound has no effective debridement, the second is that the band-aid will seal the wound, undoubtedly creating a good anaerobic environment, conducive to the growth of bacteria.

Although the situation of infection is not very often, but it is best to deal with carefully after everyone is injured, pay more attention to observe!
