After I emigrated to Australia, I change three perceptions of disease.

I often have friends leave messages asking me to write about Australia's medical system. But when I came to Australia for two years, I never had a cold myself, but occasionally I took my daughter to see a scratch on my hand and foot, a cough and fever. I've only seen a general practitioner, (GP), Hospital, and I've never been in the hospital.

So, if I were to talk about Australian medical care, it would be the same as asking for defeat alone to talk about the feelings of defeat, which made me a little confused.

I've also heard that old and new immigrants have a lot to say about how expensive it is to see a doctor in Australia, but because of their limited personal experience, I can't force myself to assert my voice to support or refute anything.

But what I can say is that since I came to Australia, I have a great deal of change about disease, which I call subversive.

The first kind of cognition: not all diseases need to be taken.

Remember that in China, every time a daughter has a fever, the whole family is always sent to the hospital, registered, waiting for medical treatment, laboratory tests, prescribing a set of procedures to walk down, in the hospital spent half a day is the minimum.

So my daughter had a sudden fever two days after her first cough in Australia, which made me a little nervous. It was a weekend evening, and the clinic, which I was familiar with, was closed, and it was hard to find a clinic that was open until 8 p. M.

There were very few patients waiting in the clinic, but I was told to wait forty minutes.

We were received by a young woman doctor, who asked about the symptoms, listened to her lungs, looked at her throat, and then told me:

1. This is a common cold.

2. The body temperature usually falls in two days.

3. The cough may last for two to six weeks.

4. Drink more water.

5. Body temperature is too high to cause discomfort, go to buy paracetamol (Panadol) to eat.

Having said these five points, he sent us away.

My heart is full of skepticism: really do not need to test a small blood to check white blood cells? Are you sure you don't have to open some sugar paste to stop coughing? Are you sure you don't have to do atomization?

Over the next two days, I gave my daughter two antipyretic pills, though she didn't say how uncomfortable she was. But after two days when the heat fell, it really didn't rise again.

The cough stopped three weeks later.

This reminds me of a common Chinese complaint against Australian doctors-not to prescribe drugs and to make patients either endure or suffer.

I think the basic logic behind this method is that the human body has self-healing ability to ordinary diseases, and drugs always have side effects, in order to get better quickly and take medicine, in fact, it is not worth the loss.

Especially in the vitamin C Yinqiao tablet, Lanqin oral liquid two kinds of domestic doctors feel that there is a problem with the drug, I believe more firmly in this point.

When I was in high school, I was reminded that there was a massive food poisoning in high school, and the school leaders listened to the advice of the school doctor to let each of us eat norfloxacin to prevent diarrhoea, regardless of whether we had problems with our intestines or stomachs. Now think, this is like playing penicillin to prevent tonsillitis, what an ignorant school doctor, will give such ridiculous advice!

When overtreatment becomes a normal condition, doctors will be described as incompetent by patients without prescribing drugs, so doctors prescribe more drugs to prove their abilities.

So why is China's medical resources so tight? The root cause is not the moral loss of the doctor, nor the backwardness of the system, but the lack of common sense.

The second kind of cognition: not all diseases can be cured.

My daughter had rhinitis at home and did not seem to see much improvement in Australia, so I took her to a Chinese general practitioner and asked him to recommend a specialist, (Specialist).

He simply asked about his daughter's symptoms, and then he told me:

1. Her rhinitis is not serious.

2. I really don't suggest I waste my money to see a specialist.

3. In her case, the specialist passed you off in two minutes.

4. Rhinitis, is not cured.

To tell the truth, the last point he said was a little vague in my heart, but I was surprised to hear a doctor say it so bluntly.

It's like knowing that drinking hurts your body, but there's always a fluke mentality of drinking in moderation, but suddenly a scientific conclusion tells you clearly that drinking is not good for you, and that there is a feeling of being woken up by a baton.

Chinese people often say that "Western medicine to cure the symptoms, traditional Chinese medicine treatment of the root", western medicine is not too enterprising? Again difficult to cure the disease, should not start from the human body Yin and Yang five elements, from the overall conditioning? How can you give up easily?

In fact, think about the common chronic venereal disease that people around us get-high blood pressure, diabetes, gastroenteritis, arthritis, asthma, dysmenorrhoea, etc., which can be cured?

No matter what god medicine, what divinity water, can lighten the symptom at most, delay the illness aggravation just.

In other words, admitting that a disease cannot be cured is actually an admission of imperfection. Disease is a defect in the human body, because of which we have to endure all kinds of inconveniences.

It's like we have to endure the inconvenience of excreting for the sake of appetite, and for the sake of sexual desire, we have to endure the inconvenience of contraception. Since we are people, we have to face up to the most basic reality of life of "inconvenience," and as we age, There will be more and more inconvenience.

I once had a 70-year-old Chinese landlord who was suffering from diabetes and kidney disease, but every day she took medicine and diet according to doctor's instructions, never heard her complain about her bad life, and never saw her ask everywhere about the secret recipe for a cure for the disease. Every day is optimistic and cheerful. She was the one who was meant to endure inconveniences and reconcile with illness.

And those consumers who worship the flow of power and health are often those who do not want to reconcile with their own defects, always thinking about achieving a certain ideal state of health and hearing the word "radical cure". Just as people in the martial arts heard the Nine Yin Sutra, it seemed to have found a short cut to the south of the road.

Sadly, no matter how many batons they hit on their heads, they couldn't wake up.

The third kind of cognition: not all diseases are really diseases.

I grew up sweating, so my mother took me to see an old traditional Chinese medicine, the old Chinese medicine said this is a deficiency of qi, opened up a prescription for me to take care of. After eating for a long time also did not see the filling gas produced what impoundment effect, also gave up.

But now, is sweating really a disease? That is, when shaking hands with people will be awkward, let people think that they just went to the toilet did not dry hands.

So I wonder if sometimes what we call "disease" is just a physical trait that is different from that of ordinary people.

For example, the stench of the fox, which I have mentioned before, is regarded as a disease in need of treatment in China. People with this disease are often ashamed of seeing others and can only seek medical treatment from small electric-pole advertisements everywhere.

But only then discovered abroad, the fox odor is actually most people carry on the body smell, every day with a little deodorant can be fresh and trouble-free.

For example, a common disease in China is called "little white head". The person who gets the disease is just like the old monster in the martial arts book. He can only paint his hair and dye his hair in order to survive in the interpersonal relationship.

But only to find out abroad, people's hair can have red brown yellow and white all kinds of colors, there are a lot of young people's hair also presents the "sideburns have star also" appearance, also does not seem to feel old and decadent.

The so-called "disease" is to bring damage to the human body, discomfort, inconvenience of the unhealthy state, but in real life, we often bring to our own "heresy" physique characteristics also belong to "disease".

This "disease" does not have any physical discomfort, but only psychological exclusion. Exclusion to a certain extent, Internet addiction can become a disease, marry will not have children can become a disease, dating with the same sex can also become a disease.

Compared to those diseases that are not powerful and cannot be cured, we should reconcile with such "heresy" and tell ourselves: "being different" is nothing wrong, and "rare and strange" is the chronic disease that human beings need to cure.
