Adelaide parking ticket review success rate as high as 52% (Daily Mail photo)
Last year, more than half of South Australia's Adelaide residents who applied for parking tickets were successful, and all they did was write a letter.
Last year, more than 266800 car tickets were issued by city councils in Adelaide, most of them related to parking violations, the Daily Mail reported. Out of a total of 20358 applications for review, 10572 tickets were withdrawn, 54 percent of which were successful.
It is understood that the South Australian local government ticket revenue last year as high as 20.7 million Australian dollars.
In the northern part of Adelaide, the highest percentage of (Gawler) tickets were withdrawn, with 93 percent of drivers successfully exempt from fines. Mayor Redman (Karen Redman) said most of the revoked tickets were slightly wrong. The most common mistakes include failing to produce a parking permit for the disabled.
Adelaide City Council (Adelaide City Council) issued 167000 tickets last year, earning nearly A $12.5 million.
In February, the Adelaide City Council introduced a "guided education approach", issuing more than 2000 written warnings and 3000 verbal warnings rather than issuing tickets directly.
