There is a new traffic rule in Victoria, the bike is happy, but the driver is confused

Victoria Road will be built for the first time at a roundabout in South Melbourne, where motor vehicles will have to make way for bicycles.

The two roundabout are the intersection of Moray St and Dorcas St and Conventry St, and in the future, motor vehicles will have to give way to bicycles when they arrive here.

In addition, drivers must make way for pedestrians on the new zebra crossing.

The changes are part of a major upgrade to the Moray St's bike lanes, aimed at reducing the travel time of cyclists to and from Melbourne and providing alternatives that do not have to pass through St Kilda Rd during the construction of the subway rail tunnel project.

In order to build the Anzac railway station, roads in each direction have been reduced to a single lane and trams and bicycles have been re-routed.

Today, cyclists can still use St Kilda Rd, but Albert Park councilman Martin. The upgraded Moray St now offers a "more convenient" solution, says Foley (Martin Foley).

"We are upgrading the Moray St bike track, so cyclists and cyclists can not go through St Kilda Rd, but have other reliable routes because we are building the Anzac railway station," he said. He said。 "the two new state-of-the-art roundabout will improve safety, reduce travel time and make it easier for cyclists to travel."

Other upgrades to the Moray St bike lane include wider lanes, new deceleration belts, better line marking and the addition of "buffers" to allow cyclists to stay away from the car.

The new design divides the Moray St bike lane into two parts. A "protected" bike track between the sidewalk and a row of parking lots runs through city roads and the southbound streets of Coventry St.

Then, starting with Coventry St, it becomes a "dedicated" bike lane, located in a row of parking lots and between lanes.

This is to preserve street parking as much as possible, while improving the safety of riders.

The roundabout of Moray St and Dorcas St will be open on Friday, while the roundabout of Coventry St will open in the coming weeks.

The Herald Sun learned that government had no plans to extend the practice further.
