According to a new survey, 1 / 4 Australian residents have had parcels stolen.

Theft of parcels is becoming more common as busy consumers switch to expensive technology products, furniture and even groceries online, the Daily Mail reported.

One in four Australian residents has been stolen over the past five years, and one in 10 has been stolen in the past year.

The survey was conducted by Pureprofile, an online research firm, to sample 1000 Australian residents.

Fletcher (Mark Fletcher), head of the security company, said residents could take a variety of ways to ensure the safety of express parcels.

The easiest way to do this is to list the office location as the receiving address. In addition, residents can allow friends or family to come to the house during the day to collect goods, so that the package will not be left outside for too long.

Other options include installing a well-positioned, visible security camera to prevent theft. If the package is stolen, the camera can record the evidence.

Some modern cameras are equipped with motion sensors that can detect movement near the front door, Fletcher said. Residents can warn on their mobile phones to scare off thieves.

Another emerging trend is intelligent locking systems. Residents can only open the door by mobile phone, let the courier put the package into the house.
