Two Melbourne pizza owners received more than A $2 million worth of tax bills from the Australian tax Authority (Australian Tax Office), or were forced to close.

Melbourne men Danao (Charlie Dannaoui) and Hassan (Michael Hassan) co-run the Smokin' Joes pizza brand, with two stores in (Wollert) and (Roxburgh Park), Rocksburg Park, according to Channel 9.

Smokin' Joes Pizza is doing a pretty good job, but big companies that pay millions of dollars in taxes are still out of control. So when Danao and Hassan received a A $2045641 tax bill from the Australian Inland Revenue Authority, they were shocked. The two Smokin' Joes pizza stores made a profit of just A $214000 during the 30-month period. The Australian Inland Revenue Authority said the two stores had net profits of more than A $2 million.

Danao and Hassan contacted ATO to discuss, but were told that if there is any objection, they need to file a complaint with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. The entire litigation process may last for more than one year, and the legal costs are as high as $100,000.

At the same time, the Australian Inland Revenue Service has issued detentions to Danaos and Hassan, meaning it has the right to transfer money directly from their accounts because they are in arrears of taxes and fees.
