The focus of racial discrimination

The focus of racial discrimination

Australia's parliament has moved several motions to amend the anti-racial discrimination law, focusing on who it feels to assess whether an act or language is racial discrimination.

The current Australian Anti-racial Discrimination Act provides for assessment based on the feelings of the discriminated person or race. Several motions were directed at the feelings of the mainstream Australian community, but none of them were passed, but they will come again soon.

For example, a white and black man says, "you're darker than me." At present, the remark is suspected of racial discrimination, because from the perspective of the black people, it discriminates against the black race. If the above question is passed in Parliament, it will not be suspected of racial discrimination, because for a random member of mainstream society, that is, the white, it is a comparative sentence that does not involve discrimination at all.

The definition of racial discrimination is directly related to sentencing in judicial proceedings. One victim may be a racist, and perhaps racial discrimination did not occur from the victim's point of view, but the perpetrator may feel racially discriminated, and judge commuted his sentence on the basis of law's decision that it was racial discrimination.
