Mystery: Asian immigrants suffer from Asthma

It's a mystery that doctors can't and can't solve: why would healthy immigrants get asthma soon after they moved to Australia?

Australia has one of the highest rates of asthma in the world, according to the Times. Now, there is growing evidence that many immigrants from Asia and other non-Western countries will experience asthma or allergies that they have not experienced before.

The researchers cannot explain the phenomenon yet, but believe it may be the result of dietary changes. Exposure to new allergens and changes in sanitary conditions can have dire consequences.

The most frightening case occurred in November 2016, when weather conditions in Melbourne caused allergic reactions among thousands of residents, the worst thunderstorm asthma disaster in the world.

In June, the Melbourne team of scientists presented a study to coroner on the 2016 thunderstorm asthma disaster. This extremely rare phenomenon is rarely known and has been recorded only four times in the past 30 years. Strong winds, high pollen counts and air humidity combine to drive deadly asthma outbreaks. At the time, 39 percent of the patients in emergency rooms were Asian or Indian, while 54 percent of intensive care patients were born overseas.

The disaster killed 10 people, six of them from India or elsewhere in Asia.

Asthma expert Professor Sean (Francis Thien) said Asian immigrants arrived in Australia with a very typical pattern. The first 5 years of good health, 5-10 years began to develop pollen disease, and then gradually developed asthma and asthma.
