Is Australia becoming more stingy and selfish?

Australia appears to be becoming increasingly stingy and selfish, according to a new survey by the Australian Community Council, a national charity, (Community Council for Australia).

The (The Australia We Want) survey, "Australia we want to see," ranked altruism and living standards across Australia.

The survey rated each state and territory in areas of justice, equity, security, inclusiveness, equality of opportunity, solidarity, truth, creativity, self-confidence, bravery, optimism, generosity, kindness and compassion. Find that Australians are accustomed to increasing incarceration and increasing suicide rates every year. Australia has a higher prison rate than any other country in Western Europe. Now the suicide rate is higher than the car accident death rate, and is still on the rise.

In contrast to politicians' rhetoric, Australia's carbon dioxide emissions continue to rise. Despite the increase in wealth, housing affordability has become a major social problem.

From the international ranking, Australia's international integrity is still declining.

At the same time, the idea that Australia is a generous country has also been questioned. Charity donations have fallen in Australia, the survey found. In addition, rich countries like Australia are no longer willing to help poor countries around the world.

Australians think it's still a safe country, but there's a difference between men and women about sense of security.

Australia is above average in terms of equality in employment, education, and business and consumer confidence compared to other members of the economic's OECD. In addition, there has been an increase in the number of people involved in volunteer work.

In terms of rankings, Tasmania was the best performing state, followed by Victoria, while New South Wales and the Northern Territory ranked lowest.

In an interview with Australian broadcaster ABC, the council's chief executive, David Crosby (David Crosbie), said the state was mixed.

"[Victoria] is doing better, especially in volunteerism, and it is one of two jurisdictions where carbon dioxide emissions are actually decreasing. The suicide rate has fallen. This is one of the only two jurisdictions with lower suicide rates than the national average. "

"[Victoria] has a fairly high level of education, up from the previous report, but the worst aspect of Victoria in particular is the worst perception of safety in the country, and the perception of safety by especially women."

He pointed out that the results of the report were shocking.

"it tells us that if we want to live in Australia where we want to live with our children and ourselves, we need to work hard to make change on these fundamental issues."
