Donghai Airlines opened a direct flight to Darwin from Shenzhen, and tickets began to be sold today.

Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, will be able to fly directly to China for the first time.

The sea and air in the East China Sea will open Darwin's direct flight to Shenzhen from May.

Shenzhen is China's Silicon Valley, with a population of 14 million, is the main financial center in southern China.

Michael Gunner, the chief executive of the Northern Territory, said the route could bring in an economy of 32 million yuan a year, provided that the number of flights on Wednesday would reach 80 percent.

"We know that Chinese tourists, on average, spend more money than other tourists, and that China is an important, rich market," Gunner said. "We now attract 18000 Chinese tourists a year. The new route will allow us to reach our goal of attracting 30,000 Chinese tourists by 2020. "

Donghai Airlines said the route would use the Boeing 737-800, which would be upgraded to Boeing 737 MAX8.

It is expected to fly twice a week from Shenzhen to Darwin on Wednesday and Sunday.

North Territory Airport CEO Ian Kew says Darwin's new connection to China will directly create 35000 seats for the market.

"East China Sea Airlines will be the only airline between China and Australia to use the Boeing 737-800, a cost-effective and cost-effective aircraft that can be competitive in fares," Kew said.

Two flights a week will be available in China this afternoon, but Darwin's take-off will not be available until the end of April.

The Northern Territory government said the peak season is expected to increase to Wednesday.
