According to the Daily Telegraph, Qantas (Qantas) offers a seasonal Sydney-Sapporo (Sapporo) non-stop flight, and Australian tourists who like to ski in Japan will be able to reach their destination faster.

It is reported that Qantas launched Sydney-Sapporo direct flights to meet the growing demand of Australian tourists. From Sydney, the non-stop flight takes just over 11 hours, saving passengers about two hours compared to the existing route.

The route, which runs from December 16 to March 28, 2020, has three flights a week from Sydney to Sapporo's new airport, (Chitose Airport), which is headed by the Airbus A330, providing more than 10, 000 seats for the route.

It is reported that the operation of this direct flight route will be a major milestone for Qantas, which is Australia's first direct flight to Sydney and Sapporo.

Kuma (Naren Kumar), Qantas' international acting chief executive, said Sapporo was a popular resort. Tourism to and from Australia and Japan is booming, and new flight services will make it easier for Australians to travel to popular (Hokkaido) ski resorts in Hokkaido, such as (Niseko) in New Snow Valley and (Rusutsu) in longevity.

Kumar said the country's popularity will continue to rise as Japan holds a series of important international sports events, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Qantas also said it would work with Hokkaido government to promote a new tourism market and welcome Hokkaido visitors to Australia to experience the summer by promoting new services to local tourists.

It is understood that the number of Australian tourists to Japan has more than doubled in the past five years. Nearly five hundred thousand Australians visited Japan last year.
