Recently, Australia's largest recruitment site, SEEK, announced five of Australia's highest-paid industries so far. (all five industries earn more than $ one hundred thousand in Australian dollars.)
Despite the recent downturn in the mining and energy sector, the sector still ranks first in terms of SEEK pay, with an average salary of A $115005 a year.
It was followed by the strategy consulting industry, with an average annual salary of A $108471.
The construction industry ranked third, with an average annual salary of A $106693.
The engineer industry ranked fourth with an average annual salary of A $103247.
Finally, the information and communications technology industry ranked fifth, with an average annual salary of A $102548.
Sarah Macartney, a spokesman for SEEK, said the results were encouraging because it showed the strength of the Australian labour market, which is being affected by some growing industries, providing more highly paid jobs for the workforce.

Despite higher wages in these industries, daily wage increases appear relatively flat, Ms. Macartney said.
Wages in the mining and energy sectors fell by 1 percent, while strategic consulting and engineers grew 1 percent, while ICT and construction grew 2 percent.

In addition to the highest-paid sectors, SEEK lists the top five positions with the highest average salary, three of which are management positions.
On SEEK, the highest-paid position was ICT architect, with an average annual salary of A $137707, an average annual increase of 2 percent.
Second was the project experience, with an average annual salary of A $133530, or an average annual increase of 3 percent.
Mining, resources and energy managers earn A $133169 a year, an average annual increase of 1%.
The IT manager's annual salary is A $129903, an annual growth rate of 1%.
Finally, the general practitioner's annual salary is A $129535, an annual growth rate of 0. 5%.
Average wages in all sectors were A $812.35 million, an average annual growth rate of 1.8 percent, Ms. Macartney said.
