Just because the fruit was too expensive, the two Australians turned the street into a big, free orchard, and some even offered to move here at a high price.

In a small town in Queensland, there is a very magical street because it is a street that can be eaten.

Yes, it's "yes"!

All the way down the street, all sorts of organic, non-polluting, fresh and nutritious seasonal vegetables and fruits were grown everywhere.

When you are thirsty, pick an orange.

If you are hungry, have a banana.

Bite down, that sweet and delicious feeling is how much money spent on the fruit can not be compared!

The most important thing is, the vegetables and fruits here are not! Yes! Yes! Flowers! money!

Well, that's how happy it is!

Because the fruit was too expensive, they turned the street into a big orchard

This street is called Urban Food Street, Buderim. on the Sunshine Coast of Kunzhou.

The street full of fruits and vegetables began in 2009.

At that time, in the fruit and vegetable market here, a lime price as high as $1.50 to $2, such a high price to residents are very dissatisfied, so the two residents of the street, Duncan McNaught and Caroline Kemp decided to do their own, rich food and clothing.

At the very beginning, they only wanted to make a few of the acid orange trees in their own yard, and then they thought that the fruit trees could be planted on the green belt on both sides of the street so that everyone could take it off.

So the next day they began to plant fruit trees on both sides of the street.

Their idea also aroused the enthusiasm of other residents, and soon, the older and more residents began to take part in the transformation of the streets into orchard gardens.

Gradually, more and more fruits and vegetables were grown on both sides of the street, and one street that had grown only lime was now expanded to 11 large farms full of fruits and vegetables.

Banana, kumquat, pomegranate, dragon fruit, strawberry, mulberry, tomato, kale, potato, lettuce, sweet potato, cabbage, mint, chili, thyme, etc., all kinds of fruits, vegetables, spices, everything.

Duncan McNaught, a co-sponsor of the project, said, "one of the problems people often encounter when cooking is that they suddenly don't have any seasoning at home, but it's not convenient to drive out late at night to buy a seasoning." It's different now. We just walk down the street and pick whatever we need. "

"So that the trouble of driving is saved, the pollution is reduced, and the body is also exercised while walking, so that the method has the advantages of multiple purposes."

And even if you don't want to grow your own fruits and vegetables, you can enjoy all the fruits and vegetables on the street for free.

"some residents who don't grow fruits and vegetables will provide people with water pipes," Caroline Kemp said. "or they can make fruit into jam for everyone to eat."

"everyone's contribution is different."

"the idea we advocate is: participation and sharing!"

"everyone takes part in it and shares the fruits of their labor with all of them."

In 2015, the fruit and vegetable community harvested 900 kilograms of bananas and 300 cabbages.

Because of this fruit and vegetable street, the neighborhood is more harmonious.

In addition to eating fresh fruits and vegetables for free, this street is more important: it makes the whole community more United and harmonious!

Caroline Kemp said, "every afternoon, this street is full of kids who come out to play. They play football, play games and have a lot of fun together." And they carry baskets and pick fruits and vegetables in the streets. "

"people are no longer just passing by to say hello, but now we will stop and talk and get in touch with each other, and we will meet regularly, and the neighborhood is closer than ever."

"it feels like everyone's a family!"

Close to Nature and bring New ideas to Urban Design

Caroline Kemp, an architect, said, "speeding up the expansion of the city brings convenience to people's lives as well as a lot of worries, for example, we are getting farther and farther away from nature."

"but in our fruit and vegetable street, we have a sense of nature as soon as we go out, green, melon and fruit fragrant, more beautiful than the park, and more practical."

"in addition, our local climate is hotter, and these fruits and vegetables provide a lot of shade for the environment in which we live, and provide more convenience for everyone to come out."

"through this approach, we hope to change the concept of urban design, to create a livable, environmentally friendly urban environment, to create a healthy, organic lifestyle."

Food safety, urban pollution, neighborhood relations, life health, these are more and more puzzling problems for modern people, a fruit and vegetable streets are all solved!

So it's not hard to understand why a lot of people are willing to move to this neighborhood at a high price.

At present, residents here are building on the idea of fruit and vegetable streets, designing new projects to help residents in other places to rebuild their streets and create a self-sufficient, food-sharing, healthy and harmonious community.

Maybe one day, we can all live in such a shade surrounded, melon and fruit fragrance, its fun place.
