This year alone, nearly 100 people died in new state traffic accidents. Police say speeding and drunken drivers will be severely punished during the long weekend of Easter this year.
Only 83 days later in 2018, 94 fatal car accidents were recorded in the new state, up from 68 in the same period last year, the Daily Telegraph reported. The police are determined to change the driver's attitude. From midnight on Thursday to 11:59 on Monday night, new state police will double their points.

New state police have launched a Merret campaign aimed at educating drivers about misconduct and encouraging good drivers. Catherine Burn, deputy commissioner of the new state police, said: "each police officer needs to explain his responsibilities and road safety issues with drivers, cyclists, passengers and pedestrians. Driving is privilege, not power. Drivers, passengers and pedestrians are responsible for their decisions. "
The warning follows a series of fatal traffic accidents this week in the new state. A pedestrian was killed by a car in Sydney's Bexley North district last night; an Australian was killed this morning after a bicycle collided with a car in Centennial Park; and an Australian was killed yesterday afternoon in Auburn, after losing control of his bike.
