Australia created millions of new jobs, 2/3 thanks to immigrants!

Immigration has been a key driver of 1 million jobs in Australia over the past five years, the Senate committee said.

Government last week touted a milestone in creating millions of jobs, saying it was a very good result for Australian workers and families.

Former Prime Minister Albert (Tony Abbott) set that goal when he came to power in 2013, but was ousted by his colleagues two years later and has recently been outspoken in advocating cuts in Australia's annual immigration intake.

Assistant Home Office Chief Jason Russo (Jason Russo) said Australia's immigration figures are an important driver of job growth.

"maybe more than 50%. I can check the data and let you know." Russo told the Senate hearing in Canberra on Tuesday.

(Michael Pezzullo) Peizuro, director of the Home Office, said immigration-driven growth of more than 50 percent of Australia's population.

"it would be strange if you think that the population is driven by immigration, but that job growth is not." "it is illogical to think that they are moving in different directions," Peizuro told the senators.

A recent joint study by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior found that a net increase of jobs over the past five years, two thirds of which were created by immigrants, were more pronounced in full-time employment.

The joint report found that immigrants did not replace Australian workers.

"in fact, the study found little evidence that the employment outcomes of Australian-born people were harmed by immigrants." The report says.

"statistically, the most obvious link is that Australian-born people are getting stronger in the labour market."

Both departments say this is likely because immigrants are often seen as a complement to Australia-born labour.

"some immigrants do not participate in the workforce or have limited rights to work (for example, long-term tourists, international students and migrant vacationers), but they still have consumer goods and services, and thus increase employment opportunities."

Since taking office in September 2013, the Unionparty has gained more than 1 million jobs, but the unemployment rate has remained almost unchanged at 5.6 percent.
