According to the latest Global Slavery Index (GSI) report, Australia imports nearly US $12 billion a year of "slave worker-made goods", including more than US $6 billion in computer products and US $4 billion in clothing, as well as catch. Cocoa, even human organs, etc.

According to the Guardian, it is estimated that there are as many as 15,000 slaves in Australia. Between 2004 and 2017, there were 20 cases of slavery and trafficking in persons convicted under federal criminal law in Australia. Under the laws of the states and territories, more criminals have been prosecuted.

The most recent case was in 2017, when two TW pleaded guilty to enslavement. In the case, 49 workers were detained in two houses in Brisbane and forced to make 10 hours a day of fraudulent phone calls to defraud the Chinese. These labourers can't leave, and if they don't behave or complain, they get beaten or starved. It was not until one of them escaped that the case came to light.

In Australia, although slave workers are most commonly found in jobs, construction, agriculture and sex, people are enslaved in some families. There are also slave workers in the supply chain of products imported into Australia.

The 2018 GSI Index report estimates that 40.3 million people around the world are enslaved, 24.9 million are forced to work and 15.4 million are in arranged marriages. As many as 71% of these "modern slaves" are women and even girls.

Slavery is also widespread in developed countries. There are four hundred and two thousand nine hundred and ninety nine modern slaves in the United States and one hundred and thirty five thousand nine hundred and ninety nine in Britain.

The United States is also the world's largest importer of slave-made risk products, importing as much as $144 billion a year.

Australia's Asia-Pacific region has the largest number of enslaved people in the world, accounting for 62 percent of the world's total of 25 million. In the Asia-Pacific region, 2 / 3 of modern slaves are slave workers, and 1 / 3 of them are victims of arranged marriages, mainly women and girls. Australia is also the world's fifth-largest importer of slave-made risk products, involving electronics, clothing, catch, rice and cocoa.

There are also cases of women being trafficked from Malaysia to Australia for sexual exploitation, as well as foreign diplomats bringing "domestic workers" to Australia, confined to the homes of embassies, consulates and diplomats, working like slaves.

The report estimates that 15,000 people across Australia are enslaved, or six "modern slaves" for every 10, 000 people.

It is reported that Australia's government submission of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 is still pending vote in the House of Representatives. The new state parliament passed the Modern Slavery Act on June 21 this year.
