Bass Strait Maritime Centre is located in Devonport, Tasmania's third-largest city, at the entrance of (Mersey River), the Messe River.
Bass Strait Maritime Centre is a museum, formerly built for the Governor of Devonport in 1920, where visitors can learn about the nature, history and present days of (Bass Strait, in the Bess of Tasmania from the Strait of Australia. An extensive collection of flags, paintings, icons and photographs illustrates the local maritime history, with collections of knotting, iron, diving suits, whaling tools and machines, as well as a collection of models from 1830 to modern passenger ships. In addition, the nautical simulator in the museum is very attractive.
