Introduction

Southwest National Park is located in southwestern Tasmania, about 115 km from the capital of Tasmania, Horbart.

Southwest National Park was founded in 1955. since its original name, Lake Bud Lake National Park (Lake Pedder National Park), the park has gradually expanded and changed its name, and finally reached its present scale in 1990.

Southwest National Park is famous for its pristine wilderness and remoteness, with little resident population in the national park, making it one of the least affected areas in Australia. There is only one road in Southwest National Park. (Gordon River Road), Gordon River Road, leads to (Gordon Dam), the Gordon Dam in the middle of the park, while there is no road in the south and west and can only be reached by walking, boat or light plane.

Along the Gorden River Road there are plenty of picnic facilities for tourists, including tables, toilets and garbage bins at The Nedes, Wedge River, Ted Beach, etc. In Lake Gordon and Lake Pedder, fishing requires permits and can only be done with artificial trout, not in any river or stream, or in the Inland Fisheries Bureau (Inland Fisher Service).
