Introduction

Jewel Cave, south of Leeuwin-Naturalise National Park in the southwestern corner of Western Australia, is about 5km from the nearest town, the harbour town of Augusta, about 320km from Perth, the capital of Western Australia.

The Augusta-Margaret River region is situated in the most south-west corner of Australia's mainland, with Margaret River and Augusta being the two largest towns in the region, with many naturally occurring stalactite caves near the area, most famously and most beautifully: Mammoth Cave, Jewel Cave and Lake Cave, all of which require guided tours.

Jewel Cave is the largest of the three great caves, which contains a complete fossil of Tasmanian Tiger.
