Introduction

Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is at Cape Leeuwin-Naturalis National Park's southernmost tip at the southwestern corner of Western Australia, about 320km from Augusta, the harbour town about a 12-kilometer drive from the nearest town and about 320km from Perth, the capital of Western Australia.

Located at the junction of the South Indian Ocean and the South Pacific and the south-west corner of Australia's mainland, the sea is azure-colored and stunning. Built in 1895, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is 36 metres tall and contains 176 steps. The light of the lighthouse can also be seen 40 kilometres above sea level, directing the way for ships travelling in and out at night.
