: Dame de l'Assomption), French, Dame de l'Assomption (The Assumption Church, located in (New Caledonia, French: Nouvelle- cal é donie) (Isle of Pines, pine island, French: Vao (VAO)., the largest town and administrative centre on le des Pins)
Built in 1860, Dame de l'Assomption is the only Catholic church on pine island, luxurious and dignified, part of which was built by members of the Paris commune, who were exiled for life in the late 19th century, many of whom were once artisans. Carpentry and senior log workers, whose hatred of capitalism did not affect their work for their faith, built chapels, big crosses, stars and parquet floors. Behind the church there is a path leading to a hill where there is a statue of the Virgin Mary crying for the world.
