Young is an inland town in (South West Slopes region), on the southwest slope of New South Wales, about 370km from Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, and 150km from the Australian capital, Canberra.
Young lies in the valley, surrounded by mountains, passing through the town by the Olympic High Speed km (Olympic Highway,A41). It has been settled by European colonists since 1826. The town was officially founded in 1861 and was originally known as "Blue Ping (Lambing Flat)." It was named after Sir John Young, then governor of the new state, in 1863 and is now.
Young has also been a small town for gold mining in its history, and has some trouble with the Chinese. During the heyday of the gold rush, there were more than 20000 gold miners, about 2000 of whom were Chinese. And China was still under the Manchu dynasty. Between November 1860 and June 1861, the local European miners continued to attack Chinese miners because of the success of the more industrious Chinese miners in the area, because of their antipathy to the success of the more industrious Chinese miners. Many Chinese have been attacked, looted and killed, with the highest number of insurgents reaching more than 3000. After the riots subsided, Chinese miners were awarded compensation, but the new state parliament passed the Chinese Immigration Act (Chinese Immigration Bill), which imposed severe restrictions on immigration from China into Australia.
Now known as Australia's cherry capital, Young hosts the national, grand national cherry festival (National Cherry Festival). Every year.
