Introduction

Normanton is a small town in (Gulf Country region), a rural area in the northern Gulf of Queensland, about 2080 kilometers by car from Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, with a permanent population of about 1200 people, more than half of whom are aborigines.

Normanton is the terminal of the Normanton- Croyden railway line (Normanton to Croydon railway line), also known as the Gulf region's (The Gulflander), which was built during the gold rush of the 1890s and is still in operation, but is more used for sightseeing purposes. One shift a week, one way about 5 hours.

Normanton has a long history, the biggest feature is the 8.64m high saltwater crocodile statue at the entrance of the town, the crocodile Chris (Kyrs) was in July 1957. Killed in (Norman River), the Norman River, Normanton was once one of the Australian seeker's camps and still retains the camping facilities of the year.
