At 12:00 on the second day of the lunar new year, the leader of the new state labour party, Lu Fuli (Luke Foley), accompanied by new state upper house member Wang Guozhong, Chinese city councillors Han Yiwen and Huang Kun, as well as many representatives of the Chinese society, went to Sydney Chinatown to pay New year`s greetings. Chinese New year wishes to the general public celebrating the Chinese Lunar New year. His appearance was welcomed by the masses in Chinatown, Sydney, and many people scrambled to win the benefit of Lu Fuli and his party in the hope of winning a good fortune for the Lunar year of the Dog.

Before leaving Chinatown, Lu said he was born in the year of the Dog, but wouldn`t tell you exactly what year it was, 1982 or 1970.

Lu extended his warmest holiday wishes to the Chinese in the new state, which he pronounced "Congratulations for Wealth" in Cantonese. He talks about his visit to China over the past year, including to Beijing, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, where he has gained a lot and established good relations with the local government. He praised the Chinese for their contribution to Australia`s social and economic development, and praised the Chinese as a bridge to build friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

At the beginning of the traditional celebration, Lu Fuli and his party set off from Chinatown and went round Chinatown to the Chinese people in Sydney, many citizens and shops along the street to celebrate the New year, and received a warm welcome from the people along the street.
