International students are required to submit their English test scores before they are granted a visa to study in Australia to demonstrate that they have met the minimum English proficiency requirements. The Home Office recently announced an adjustment to the acceptance of the English language test results, which will not apply to 500 class student visa applicants after May 2018.

Since October last year, TOEFL paper written test content adjustment, oral English is not included in the scope of consideration. The Home Office believes that oral English skills are tested to ensure that applicants have the ability to communicate face-to-face in Australia.

The Home Office recently excluded the TOEFL paper written test from the acceptable English test range for student visas, in view of changes in the contents of the test.

However, the Ministry of the Interior will still accept the TOEFL machine test (TOEFL iBT) scores.

It is understood that the most popular student visa applicants English test program is not TOEFL. "Today, most international students choose the PTE test, followed by IELTS (IELTS).," (Shivi Bhalla) Bharara, the operator of an English-language consultancy in Sydney, told SBS.

"I know it is acceptable to apply for a visa in Australia. But in the five years since its inception, no one has come to consult [TOEFL]. "

It is reported that, in addition to the TOEFL machine test, Australia currently accepts other English examinations including IELTS, Advanced Cambridge English examination (Cambridge English: Advanced), PTE academic English examination and Professional English examination.

In order to accept the test results, the examination date must not exceed two years from the date of submission.
