New state government`s A $100 million IT service contract requires bidding software companies to hire at least 1 / 3 overseas programmers.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the New Zhou Road and Maritime Services Agency (Roads & Maritime Services) `s A $100 million IT service contract) issued a "tender request" (Request for Proposal). On Feb. 13 this year. It set a "minimum" of 20 percent for "offshore" jobs in the first year of the contract and 30 percent for the second year, and "continued efforts to increase the number of offshore jobs" over the seven-year contract period.

That means at least 300 IT jobs were lost in Australia in the first three years of the contract.

It is reported that the two Indian companies are on the final list of candidates, namely Mumbai-based Tata consulting services company (Tata Consultancy Services) and Bangalore-based Wiplo company (Wipro Ltd), A revised tender plan is required to be submitted to the New State Road and Maritime Service by May 11.

The new state road and maritime services solicitation documents explain that "cost reduction" is the reason why overseas employees are required.

Indian programmers earn about A $10 an hour, while Australian programmers earn as much as A $100 an hour.

The news came after Pat (Rob Putter), the new state road and maritime services chief information officer, resigned. Pat resigned earlier this week for just 16 months. He worked for India`s Jettair (Jet Airways), for a year in Mumbai.

New state opposition party leader Lu Fuli (Luke Foley) last night called on government to keep his job in the new state, saying Bergicklin (Gladys Berejiklian) government had betrayed native workers. Morey (Mark Morey), secretary of the new state union (Unions NSW), also asked government to "tear up the solicitation document immediately."

A spokesman for the new state road and maritime services agency responded that the ongoing bid was trade secret.
