RAA suggests that you compare the prices of self-employed gas stations.
As far as yesterday`s oil price is concerned, the price of a litre of oil in a chain gas station and a self-employed gas station actually shows an astonishing difference of 30c!
RAA said the gap should be due to self-employed gas stations in order to compete with the chain of gas stations. So it should be more cost-effective to go to a small gas station now!
MarkBorlace from RAA says:
Liberty Outlects and Costco basically kept prices at $1.28 / litre, while family-owned XConvenience kept prices at $1.29 to $1.33 per litre.
But by contrast, the price of a large chain of gas stations, with the exception of the Caltex at Elizabeth Downs`s Mobil,Blair Athol and Wingfield`s BP, all rose to $1.44 / litre.
The difference could lead to a $15 difference, Mr. Borlace said, and now there`s a good reason you want to go straight to Liberty or X Convenice, regardless of a large chain of gas stations.
"the situation now looks like these gas stations are our friends, and we should look for them as a priority," he said.
"the big chains don`t mind a little less customers, they can rely on more kinds of products in their stores to make money," he said.
"but small gas stations need to rely on more people to fuel, so keep oil prices low, which is certainly good news for motorists."
Although Australia`s oil price has reached its highest level since 2014, Adelaide`s oil price is still lower than in other states.
