Australian health minister Hunt (Greg Hunt) said recently that if Raha (Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun) was found to be refugee, Australia's government would consider granting her a humanitarian visa, the Australian health agency reported.

Australia's government said it would seriously consider granting her a humanitarian visa if the United Nations identified Raha, a Saudi girl trapped in Bangkok, as a refugee.

The 18-year-old had planned to enter Australia on a tourist visa and seek asylum before being sent to Thailand on Sunday by authorities detain. She also insisted that if sent home, her family would kill her.

At present, Raha is being looked after by United Nations officials. Un officials say it will take about five days to process Raha's request for assistance.

Australian Health minister Hunt says Australia's government has been urging the United Nations High Commissioner for refugee to deal with her case promptly.

"We have succeeded in persuading them to do so," Hunter told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday.

"We are waiting for the results of the investigation and if we find out that Raha is a refugee, we will very seriously consider granting her a humanitarian visa," he said.

On Tuesday night, Raha's father and brother arrived in Bangkok. "Raha's father and brother want to talk to her, but they need the consent of the United Nations," (Surachate Hakpan), director of Thailand's immigration services, told journalist.
