Drivers travelling from Mount Druitt will pay A $1.63 / A $4.21 for each trip using the section between Parramatta and Homebush.

The toll system is based on distance calculation, similar to that of M7 highway. The cost is calculated based on the distance from the entrance point and the exit point. There are 14 billing gates in total.

For those who need two-way driving to and from work every day, this is equivalent to A $42 a week; A $2189.20 a year.

M4 has not been charged since 2010. But on March 8 last year, the M 4 began a fee-free trial, which lasted several months.

According to data, more than 54,000 motorists use the M4 highway every day, and when the toll is opened, the M4 highway will be extended by 7.5 km to a two-way 4-lane.

An environmental impact report said the broadened M4 road traffic time could be reduced by up to 74 percent. Traffic hours are expected to be shortened from 19 minutes to 5 minutes during early peak hours in the city.

Sydney`s M4 Highway has always been controversial because it is the most dangerous section of Australia.

Between 2010 and 2014, 788 serious injuries and six deaths occurred on the 24-kilometer highway.

Among them, the M4 from Parramatta Road to the M7 junction is the NSW state and Australia`s high incidence of accidents.

With the end of the Hope Project and the start of toll collection, the congestion and safety problems of M4 highway can be solved effectively.

Otherwise, more than $2000 a year would be wasted.
